5 Ways to Creatively Display Your Food Truck Menu

There are many creative ways to display your food truck menu, depending on your style and the size of your truck. Here are some ideas:

A-Frame Chalkboard

This is a classic way to display a menu, and it’s easy to update daily specials or prices. This option can get cluttered quickly so we recommend using this option to complement a full menu by calling out featured items for the day. A-frame chalkboards can also help with the visibility of what your truck serves as you can place it further away from the truck so that if there is a line, potential customers can still see what food you are offering.

Digital Screens

You can use digital screens to show pictures of your food or a slideshow of your menu items. Using Food Truck Lineup for your truck gives you access to an online menu builder that you can connect to a QR code and place on the side of your food truck as well as on the tables of breweries and other establishments you frequent. Other options are to create a digital graphic of your menu which you can then display via tablet or computer monitor in your truck window. These are the easiest to read and can completely match your branding.

Hanging Menu Boards

These can be suspended from the side of your food truck or attached to the top of the truck. They can be designed to match the style of your truck. These are typically a permanent type of menu that you would get printed at a shop so it would be invalid if you sold out or if you added items to your menu. This would be the least cost-effective option but on the flip side, it would look very professional!

Magnetic Menu Boards

You can use magnetic strips to display your menu items, making it easy to update or change the menu. While these can be easy to update, it does take time and it doesn’t always look good. Branding, font, and color options are limited but it is sometimes easier to read than handwritten menus.

Paper Menus

This is potentially the most cost-effective and simple option to start with. A couple of benefits of paper menus are that you can add references to your social media and website on the menus themselves to get more followers and customers can take a menu home with them if they want or share it with a friend. It’s self-marketing in a very simple way. One of the downsides to paper menus is that your menu may change from day to day or you might sell out of items during an event, which would then make your menu out of date. We’ve all seen some food truck menus where they have taken a sharpie and sketched out a menu item, and let’s face it, this just doesn’t look very professional. Don’t scratch out a menu item if you know you won’t be selling it that day. Instead print a new menu!

These are just some ways you can display your menu. It’s important to stay true to your brand as much as possible to build an experience for your customers and build that loyalty. When looking at options we would recommend that you consider all possible scenarios to determine if your menu will change on a regular basis or not and how important that is for the overall experience. Doing this will eliminate some of your options. If you are looking for a digital solution, sign up for our newsletter to get notified about when we launch!
